The Thursday Night Hype: Chivas USA v. New England

I don't know if Kyle Martino will be on the mic again for this week's MLS Primetime match on ESPN but I'd like to give him props for being totally not awful last week. He & Stoner are no Harkes & Dellacamera, but who is. Still I'd like to see him stick around, perhaps teamed up with Glen Davis as the permanent backup team.

Just out of curiously, who do you guys prefer as far as announcers go? And don't you dare say this guy.

Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson. The best.

I only want people with British accents, everyone else need not apply. Seriously, I don't mind Martino/Stone or Dellacamera/Harkes. Hudson with his normal partner on GolTV is entertaining as well.

I actually thought Martino was ecellent and better than Harkes. I also agree that anyone with a British accent makes the games much more enjoyable.

I'm gonna be the minority here and say that I thought Martino was aweful last week. I also thought Martino was working on Wall Street or something.

Ray Hudson and JP Dellacamera are the best. Imagine them in the booth together. That'd be excellente.

Martino did the RSL v. LA game earlier this season on the local Salt Lake NBC affiliate, and he did a good job.

Last week though, I thought he was Paul Caligiuri when I first turned it on, and that would have been a disastrous choice.

All things considered, I think a Ray Hudson / Robin Fraser team would be fantastic, but not possible until GolTV lets Hudson go and until Fraser decides he'd rather be a talking head than coach, which is probably 15 years away.

Ray Hudson just adds a second entertainment element besides the game itself. The game when Real Madrid won La Liga in Beckham's last game on GolTV was a pure classic. If you haven't seen it, go to mininova and download it. you won't be sorry.
And just cuz you mentioned it, I would love to hear Marv do a soccer game. Maybe he could do it with "the czar of the telestrator" mike fratello. "Beckham steps up to take the free kick: from downtown...YES!"
