Aw, remember that one? What a classic that was. It's no American Gothic but around these parts it's what passes for high art.
Below are some of my favorite photos and captions from TOR's past. My love of marrying a good photo with periods and Helvetica may have gone to far on occasion but that's no reason to stop. Or is it? Has it become too rote? Should I find a new visual style?
Ponder that and give me some feed back if you have a minute. You can also let me know what the best TOR caption ever was. Below area few contenders that I picked but feel free to suggest others that you think are top of the table.

Please never stop the captions! The best ever is Beckham's "Golazo induced semi" hahaha. All are great though. This is what makes this the most fun blog to read online!

I'm gonna have to say the Taylor Twellman "lone striker" caption is my all-time fav. There's nothing like a good Twellman joke.

Personally, I loved the "Kids Love Douchebags" post. That's my favorite (though the "Cosby Dancing" gloss has to be perhaps the wittiest and most appropriate ever).
I'm an academic, and I was working a few months ago on establishing a group research blog with some colleagues at my institution. We were doing a lot of reading of different types of blogs, looking at design mostly, in different blog farms.
At one point, I directed everyone to Sideline Views and TOR, mainly as an exercise in juxtaposition (both use Blogger, but the sites look completely different).
Anyhow, it was hilarious seeing the response from 8 college professors to the "Kids Love Douchebags" post. That's what we call a "kairotic moment" in our business...
Long live helvetica.

Saving Dutch ass since WWII? Naw the Dutch thank the Canadians for that, that's why they still send us tulips every year (no, I'm not joking). The US forces were mainly to the south...as a Canuck who wrote a paper on this a long time ago I gotta represent. Granted the paper sucked as I was focused on a girl living in Montreal back then but I digress...
Now back on track I personally love the plain and simple "Winner" and "Loser" you broke out for Becks and Ronnie at the ESPY's.
Absolutely love the captions. Favorites are golazo-induced semi, lone striker, Xavier and the beast, and Adu in the playoffs. The "Can I eat you" one is painfully cruel but equally hilarious.
Don't ever get rid of them please!
My faves are the "lone striker" and the Frank Yallop "yes I do know the way to San Jose" one. Twellman after the MLS Cup was a classic.
You're much better at this than Perez Hilton. I don't know if that's partially influencing your decision to stop.

I love the captions too, but...can you put them in actual caption boxes, like a comic book or something? Several of them are hard to read ("This is what it's all about", Spanish Fly, Beast. Man., and others).
