true, to hardcore cubs or sox fans, this is probably blasphemous. but most of those same fans aren't paying a whole lot of attention to soccer. (not to say the players -- apparently zambrano was stoked to catch a pitch from blanco.)
my wife and i were watching the cubs when blanco & co. were on for the 7th inning stretch. i pointed to blanco and said "you're looking at probably the most famous professional athlete in chicago." to which she said, "jordan?" ok, fine -- maybe the most famous *active* pro athlete in chicago?
