Are the LA Galaxy a superclub yet? No. But who would have thought there would be a day when they would have offshoot clubs in foreign countries? If this Gold Coast Galaxy thing gets off the ground in 09, they may be the Chivas USA of the Hyundai A-League. Whether you view that as a derogatory statement is subject to opinion.
Whether a partnership with the Gals would really mean anything is an unknown. MLS club partnerships with overseas teams have mostly been about the press release, and not much else. But still, reading this article makes Donovan's statements last month about playing in OZ seem somewhat prescient.

This is one of the most lame ideas on the history of lame ideas.
They've got one freakin' guy that the world knows and no history to really stake their claim on the game enough to start looking to be the parent of a sister or baby club.
Dumb.
Lame idea it may be, but one cannot deny the lucrative brand LA Galaxy is becoming: When they played the friendly with A-League team from Wellington recently it was the highest attended soccer match ever in New Zealand.
I wouldn't be surprised though if this Gold Coast team field a better squad than the Galaxy themselves (who are shit shit shit).
When I thought you meant like women's team in the area... I was all for it. The A-League can go blow.
Why would they just have a
womans team in a foreign country?
When we all know LA Galaxy
IS a womans team!
