New England's English attacking midfielder Andy Dorman has left the club for the big European payday by signing with....St. Mirren? You may be asking yourself what exactly is Mirren the patron saint of, so I'll tell you; officially, the town of Paisley...unofficially, marginally lateral career moves.
I know the guy has thinking of returning home to ply his trade back in Britain for a bit now, but for a player of his talent an SPL side that is currently sat at 11th in the table just seems like a waste to me. He's a player that could help San Jose not play like an expansion team, or provide Angel & Altidore with some much-needed service in New York. And what's the best he can hope for with St. Mirren? Finishing in the top half of the table?
So here's a question? Why have all of the Revs ace midfielders tried to get the hell away from there in the last few years? Dempsey & Dorman wanted out and got out. Joseph wants out but can't get out (but he did get a raise). What the hell is going on up in Foxborough to make all these guys who've all been so integral to the team's success want to leave like a bunch of deadbeat Dads? I've no clue but if someone has photos of Stevie Nicol in full midfielder seduction-mode, I'll draw my own conclusions.

Maybe they're all sick of getting to the MLS Cup Final and not sealing deal.
Wow, that's not even a lateral move. That's a downward move for the guy. I think there are a few conclusions to draw from this:
1. Dornan just wanted to put his name in the mix over there. The Scottish Cup is coming up in addition to SPL games and he'll get several more games with Celtic and, uh, that other team in Glasgow that escapes my mind right now, the one that Lyon just ABSOLUTELY pasted at home. That one.
2. The situation in NE is absolutely falling apart after Dynamo just ruined them. This is more evidence that their run is over.
3. Maybe Dornan had some personal reasons. St. Mirren is certainly much closer to his family than anywhere in the US. Is he married? Where's his wife from?
Never met you Martek, but you're awesome.
St. Mirren will finish 11th of 12 for the 2nd season in a row. They'll be relegated next season if a team with more than 300 fans replaces Gretna.
kirkbhoy, thanks for the nice words. That's why I find this a strange move for the guy. Personally, I think he just wants to put his name in the mix over there and be closer to his family, because there's no way that St. Mirren is a destination for him.
Going to check out the Old Firm game Wednesday morning here in Houston with a mate from Glasgow here for the holidays. Very nervous, but you know, if you don't win these kinds of games, you don't deserve to be champs.
Don't forget Avery John, too. I forget if it was Leeds or QPR, but they were going after him and the Krafts said no...
you have it all wrong. Andy wanted to stay in New England, his "adopted" hometown. They would not even pay him a liveable wage despite his success.
