By now you may have heard that 'the Lou', as favourite son Nelly likes to call it, has taken a big step closer to getting an MLS side. The brain behind the bid, Jeff Cooper, has put together a cracking site to keep interested parties up on all the latest developments related to the project, St.LouisSoccerUnited.com.
With a blog, news, incredible renderings of the proposed stadium, and a raft of info on MLS and St. Louis soccer history it's probably the most comprehensive and informative site ever for an expansion project. There is also a widget that let's you forward site and ticket info to friends, a move designed to grow interest (and season ticket holders) organically and virally.
"Evangelising" the fans is a very forward thinking move that on their part that quite frankly is so simple that none of the current MLS teams have been smart enough to do it. If the MySpace generation has taught us anything it's that people would rather be introduced to something by their peers than by "the man".
Although they don't have a club yet, Cooper & co. are a testament to the increasingly savvy ranks of new MLS owners. Hopefully they will have the opportunity to impress as MLSE in Toronto have and not be the disappointment (and on some level disgrace) that Jorge Vergara and Chivas USA is.
Heck maybe, they could do a lot of us a favour by buying/moving Chivas USA.

The way that they are going about this is dead on. Peter Wilt and what he's up to should be more along the lines of this (if it isn't already). Giving people an idea of what your doing and maintaining a site that individuals can go to to see what the progress (or in some cases) lack there of is an awesome idea.
If the Jets were smart, they would've done this.
Yeah, this is excellent. The only club the is close to this is FCD with their official blog.
The last line is the best. "Move Chivas NOW!"
Heck, all they have to do is wait another year and then San Jose will be ready to move again. Or maybe St. Louis will be one of the Quakes' 5 or 6 home stadia.
now that chivas have shawn hunter, things will change.
i dont know why you want chivas to move.
and by the way, its "vergara" not jorge "guevara"
Spelling mistake noted...Amado on the brain.
I'd not just like to see them moved, but renamed and given to a market that would appreciate them. They are playing fantastic soccer but no one in that town gives a rat's ass. We have 2-3 other cities that would love to have an MLS side that I would rather see these guys playing in.
And honestly I don't like Jorge's ignorant nationalistic BS about only playing players from Mexico in Mexico etc. His sad/embarassing attempt at the same thing in LA is a shame upon the league in my opinion.
Could you imagine the noise that would have been made if Red Bull would have come in and tried to start a team filled with Austrian's and German's and made proclaimations of trying to show the Aryan way to play football? There would be Falcon Crest levels of drama.
Plainly stated that sort of ethnic pandering (and preferencing) is dispicable; if a dude can play, let him play regardless of where he is from. As an adult and an American I find it disgusting and would be loathe to associate myself with people like that.
My mother didn't raise that kind of trash.
I heard they have really good tacos at games though.
I am in love with that logo. Not in a gay way, but seriosuly, how clool is that?
